We were able to get a private tour of the Boulevard Brewery in Kansas City.

First Times the Charm

I'm so proud of my dad! He set his mind to run his first 5k a couple months ago and I wanted to run with him. Our race was this past Saturday at 8:30am in the rain. The course was super hilly but the hills and the rain didn't stop us! My dad finished first in his age group and I finished second in mine. Father daughter duo!

Weekend of Goodbye's

Not my favorite weekend.
Garen -one of Cesar's best friends- was offered a 6th grade teaching position in Garden City, KS. Naturally, he accepted and we're happy for him. Although Cesar isn't showing it, I know he's bummed. Garen and Cesar met when they were freshman at KU and have been close friends for years. Now, Garen will be six hours away with a full-time job that won't allow weekend trips back to Lawrence.
So we threw him a going-away party; his last house party. Lots of friends showed up for beer and burgers but there was a little rain cloud hanging out in the corner. We're planning a trip to visit Garen in the winter, but that will be the longest that Cesar and Garen have been apart in nearly six years.
On the same note but not near as depressing, I moved out of my apartment and away from my roommate, Lindsay, of two years. Lindsay is also a best friend of mine and nearly the perfect roommate -other than her cookie-buying habits. But, I've always wanted to live alone and never got the chance (or had the budget.) So, Lindsay and I made an amicable break-up on Monday night but we're still friends; it wasn't her, it was me. But if she ever finds another roommate, I'm sure I'll disapprove.
p.s. Hey Los Angeles, Cesar and I will be seeing you September 28! :)

My Best Friend's Wedding
Friday, July 20, 2012
Last November my best friend got engaged to her boyfriend of six years and she asked me to be her Maid of Honor. Their months of planning finally came down to the wedding day on Saturday. Throughout the entire day she was so calm and collected; I was more nervous than she was!
When it came to the reception, I started getting very nervous for my Maid of Honor speech. There was a slight glitch in the schedule, so I had about 10 minutes to prepare. Mind you, I was speaking in front of a crowd of nearly 260 people. Needless to say, I had a little bit of liquid courage to get me going. But the speech went surprisingly well! (I tend to talk really fast, andslurmywordstogether, but I did alright!)
Afterwards I got so many compliments! The brides dad even told me it brought a tear to his eye.
It's funny, the story that Chelsea and I have. When were about 5 years old, our families lived down the block from one another. Eventually, both of our parents decided to move and build houses north of Topeka. We both knew we were moving, but didn't know where. When my parents bought land there was a family building a house right across the street. My dad walked over to introduce himself to the new neighbors and, wouldn't ya know, it was Chelsea's family. We've been best friends ever since!
Anyway, she looked beautiful and I hope she enjoyed the day as much as I did!

The Color Run

Fallon and I ran in The Color Run 5k in Kansas City this weekend and it was a blast! We ran around Arrowhead Stadium and got sprayed with color every 1 kilometer.

Afterwards, the runners gather to throw all the color into the air...
Cesar didn't even want to give me a celebratory hug... but it was worth it!

After the Brat Trot... And Candy's many photo attempts. Cesar thinks he can beat my time. The bet is on.
Dance, Dance, Dance All Night Long
Tuesday, June 19, 2012
I've always toyed with the idea of ballroom dancing lessons so when I found adult dance lessons at the Lawrence Arts Center I jumped on the idea and immediately signed up... without telling Cesar. Our lessons started Thursday night and I told him about them on Wednesday night. He had no way out. After an hour of pretending he wasn't interested he finally said, "You know, I took dance lessons when I was a kid. I'll probably be better than you."
Our lessons are every Thursday evening for an hour. We started with the Foxtrot and we'll eventually learn to Waltz, Salsa and Swing dance.
In all honesty, we're enjoying it and we can't wait to become professionals!

I don't imagine we'll get a call from American Best Dance Crew anytime soon. Between us we've got four left feet, no patience and a whole lot of sweating. Come on now, I quit dancing as a child after one season and Cesar's only claim to fame is his time in the court of honor at a quiƱceanera.
In all honesty, we're enjoying it and we can't wait to become professionals!

First Time's a Charm
I always told myself that I wasn’t interesting enough to have a blog.
I still believe that, but once Cesar mentioned the possibility of moving to Los Angeles, I made a mental note; if that ever happened, I would start a blog to keep close contact with my friends and family I left in Kansas.
Then I started thinking, what about Cesar’s family in California now? In addition, my family in Manhattan and even Australia? A blog sure couldn’t hurt anything!
So here it is.
I’m going to try my hardest to keep this blog about Cesar and I, instead of just myself. I promise I’ll try.
I want to make it easy for friends and family to keep up with us… in between visits. More so, I want everyone to leave comments, even if they don’t pertain to the blog post. We want to hear about our family and friends’ daily lives. We want you to visit the blog to talk about yourself, also.
